Metal Street Signs or Wooden Street Signs?............We need to decide

So Carroll County is ready to come out a place NEW signs in the subdivision.  They are ready to replace the wooden signs with new metal signs.

Hi Scott,

Yes, the county will replace signs. Any that are down, or missing, just let me know which intersections, and road names you need. They will be replaced with all metal, not wood.

I am trying to get homeowners to tell me if they would like to have the wooden signs replaced with the metal ones.  The county will not come out and fix the wooden signs. So we can have some wooden signs and some metal or we can have all metal or all wooden with some broken.

Please call me on my cell that was provided on the letter or email me.

Thanks,  Scott.

Another email in response to the street signs

Another response on the street signs

Hi Scott,

If a sign is needed for safety reasons, the county has no problem erecting one. A supervisor will be out around the first of next week to take a look at the area. They will install wherever is deemed the best location(s). I will pass on your contact information to him along with our email correspondence, so he can contact you if need be. Feel free to correpond with me if you have any questions or concerns.

It makes me feel better that Carroll County is active in trying to help get somethings done.

Update in the Street Signs

I received this email this morning from Carroll County on the sign issue

Hi Scott,

We can post a sign at the entrance to the subdivision, for speed limit, and a "Children at Play" if you like.

However, we can't put several signs up. The reason being is that the more signs you have, the less likely people are to notice them. That is, saturation of signs seems to cause drivers to ignore legitimate warnings. If drivers ignore the signs at the entrance of your subdivison, then it is unlikely that they will respond to any others. If you see cars habitually speeding, please report them to the sheriff's dept.

I will put in a request for signs at your neighborhood entrance in the meantime.

Well this might be a step in the right direction for the sign issue.  I am still waiting for more info about some other things.

Information and Questions on Street Signs

I received this email this morning from Carroll County Public Works

Hello Scott,

The County does not replace the Subdivisions wood signs or posts. However, we can install metal signs and posts for speed limits or "Children at Play".

Just let me know exactly where you need them. I know you are in Victoria Place S/D, but what street and address will you need a sign?

You can also call the Sheriff's Dept at 770-830-5888 or 5887 to report speeding in your nieghborhood.

I look forward to hearing back from you soon.

They have one of the speed limit / children at play signs in the front of the subdivision.

We have Rachel Blvd. which is the long road and it has the blind curve that cars speed around.  We have Nicole Drive that is a long street ending in a culdesac, Morgan Place and Miranda Way

If you live on any of these streets would you please provide me your input and opinion's on having more of these signs posted.  If so, where would you like to see them placed.  For example, I would like to see one on the corner coming up the hill around the blind curve and then maybe on the empty lot next to our house.

Please let me know what you think so I can get a email back to Carroll County and get some signs put in.

Thanks to everyone.

Still working

I was on the phone with several people in Carroll County yesterday and trying to get information about some of the issues some of the people have.

I have received some emails and I am glad to see that people have interest.

I am still working on gathering information and if any of you have anything to add please put it in the comment area or send a email then I will add it here to the blog.

Thanks,  Scott

Street Lights

Street Lights

Today I talked to CEMC and found out that we have 15 street lights in the subdivision.

Each street light is $9.50 per month.

15 x $9.50 = $143 a month

$143 x 12 months = $1716 per year

I am still working on finding out more information for us

Thanks, Scott
